KNOWLEDGE IS A KEY ESSENTIAL

DMC Talent believe that Knowledge is a key essential for confidence, power, and to land the role.

The more you learn and know, the easier it is to land roles and become a professional in this business

IMPORTANT LINKS

Here are some great informational links for you to learn for the industry.

Wether you are a season professional, just starting out, represented by DMC or not (yes we can see you checking us out) here is some great information to get you started, or even great for a refresher, you would be surprised what you may learn.

ON SET PROTOCOLS

The DO's and DONT's on set

THE DO'S AND DONT'S ON SET

Extras are a really important part of any TV Series and Feature Film. Like the actors and crew, Production Companies expect a certain level of professionalism on their set.

When protocol is breached they are really disappointed because it’s not hard to follow.

o as a friendly reminder, please, just keep it professional. Follow the rules. Production Companies hate to not have extras back due to the fact they can’t follow simple protocol!

DO BE FRIENDLY AND COURTESY

Be bubbly and friendly to all production staff; from the girls in Makeup to Wardrobe, to the film crew.

We have found if they like your personality they will ask for you back, and the production crew go from production to production.

They could be your way in on the next TV Show or Feature Film.

DO BE EARLY

Always allow additional time for travel, extra time for parking and time to relax and take a breather before you walk on set.

Always arrive to set 15mins prior to your call time

No production likes talent rushing onto set late and in a hot mess. Leave the drama to the Actors performance NOT you arriving to set.

DO ARRIVE TO UNIT BASE FIRST

Always go to the Unit base on the call sheet before going to set. Productions will arrange transport to and from the unit base to set.

Unit base is where you sign in, complete your vouchers, go to Hair, Makeup and Wardrobe Trailers / Departments before going out to set

DO CONTACT DMC TALENT IF YOU ARE SICK

If you are feeling sick prior to the day, please let us know immediately so we can find a replacement for you.

Do NOT contact the production, you MUST contact DMC Talent so they can arrange a replacement for you

If no replacement can be arranged, you will be charged the lost Booking Commission for this job.

Please avoid calling sick the day of filming, as production companies remember if you don’t turn up and they talk if you are unreliable!

DO CONTACT THE 2ND AD IF YOU ARE RUNNING LATE TO SET

If you are running late to set or know if you will be late, contact the 2nd AD contact on your CALL SHEET to let them know exactly to the minute how long you will be late.

DO NOT do a 'I'll be 5 minutes late', when you know you will be 15 mins late. Please be honest with them and tell them to the minute how long you will be late. As they will be the ones to move things around to accommodate or will let you know if it will be too late to arrive.

DO NOT ACCEPT A JOB IF YOU ARE NOT 100% AVAILABLE

This is extremely important;

DO NOT accept a job without checking if you can take the day off work first if you work another job

DO NOT accept a job without checking if you have a babysitter first

REMEMBER Casting Directors remember if you pull out last minute and don't tend to re-book you as they feel you would be unreliable. RELIABILTY is key in this Industry

IMPORTANT If you accept a job then pull out prior to the job, you will be charged the lost Booking Commission for this job.

NO DRINKING OR ILLEGAL DRUGS

Absolutely No alcohol or drugs are to be consumed before, during or on Set or to be taken on set.

If you do, you will be immediately escorted off the sets and your DMC Talent representation will be terminated immediately and you will not be paid for the role.

NO HARRASSMENT

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated towards any production crew, DMC TALENT staff, fellow talent or clients. DMC TALENT and the Production company has the right to send you home and this may affect your payment and your profile terminated.

NO TALKING TO CAST / ENGAGING CAST

Don’t under any circumstance engage the cast to chat. Like extras and crew, they are there to work and need space to concentrate on lines, their character or their emotional state. This goes for their lunch break or afternoon tea.

Please do not approach them to chat, it is very distracting, and I’ve had direct reports from main cast that extras are doing this and also trying to discuss story lines. Please refrain from doing this. It’s different if they engage you obviously but not the other way around.

NO MOBILE PHONES

You aren’t to have your mobile phone on set whilst in a scene. Not in your pocket, not in your bra, not anywhere. It stays in your bag until you get a break. Only yesterday I saw an extra in a scene, take a phone call whilst out of shot but on set. There is a blanket NO MOBILE rule for almost everyone on set unless you are a specific crew member who needs it. Just like any casual job, you are here to work.

NO VISITORS

You are not invited to bring friends, relatives, children, pets or any other people to set. Any unauthorised personnel on set will be asked to leave.

If you are a parent and your child is 14 years or under, you are able to stay on set with them during their booking. However you are not able to bring any other siblings with you onset and will have to arrange childcare during this time.

There are minders on set for children 14 years and under if you choose to leave your child with the minder, you do not need to stay with your child during this time.

A nominated guardian can also stay with your child on set if you have to work, if that makes your child more comfortable.

NO SOCIAL MEDIA

Every time you set foot onto set you sign a confidentiality agreement. If you are found to be sharing story lines and photos either online or to others outside of the set, you are in breach of your confidentiality agreement and won’t be asked back.

If the production does let you take any photos you are not allowed to show or share these photos until the release date of this production.

PERSONAL ITEMS

As you may be waiting around between scenes, we usually recommend to take a book, puzzle book or magazine. We do not recommend that you take any electronic devices such as tablets, games, laptops etc, as these will not be supervised whilst you are on set.

Please Note: All your personal belongings taken on set are at your own responsibility. DMC Talent takes no responsibility for any items lost, damaged or misplaced whilst you are on set.
